About Goa
The smallest, of India's 28 states with a population of 1.4 million (which is growing at a rate 14.9%pa). Goa is bathed by the Arabian Sea on the western coast, in the region known as the Konkan.
Goa is India's richest state with a GDP per capita 2.5 times that of the country as a whole and has one of its fastest growth rates.
Boasting over 100 kilometres of coastline and one of the best natural harbours in South Asia (Marmogao), Goa is renowned for its tropical climate, beautiful beaches and cascading landscapes that combine the Western Ghats mountain range with forests that have been accresited as one of the biodiversity hotspots of the world. |
