If you want a change from relaxing by the pool or on the beach, Larnaca has plenty to offer: Numerous Museums *The Wreck of Zenobia off the coast of Larnaca is considered the best dive in the Mediterranean. There is a Tourist Submarine excursion from Larnaca Marina down to the wreck, where you can enjoy the abundance of marine life if diving is not your cup of tea. This fascinating trip takes about an hour.
The Salt Lake, which is near to Larnaca airport is best visited in Winter and Spring, when its sparkling waters draw flocks of migrant flamingos. Hala Sultan Tekke is a famous Islamic pilgrimage site and is reflected in the waters of The Salt Lake. It is said that the aunt of the Prophet Mohammed fell off her mule here and died. The mosque was erected in her memory. There are a couple of markets that offer bargains galore, in addition to an abundance of “high street” stores and gift shops in Larnaca town.
